The NOBU nightstand is the most detailed piece in the collection, and it rewards a close look. The main volume is a heavy rounded block of solid wood, radiused at both ends, its top recessed to hold a soft inset panel in leather or upholstery. Sitting above it — offset, not centred — is a second smaller box with a woven panel set into its face, adding texture where the rest of the piece is smooth.
Underneath, the whole mass is lifted clear of the floor on a slim brass cross base. It is a deliberate contrast: several hundred pounds of sculpted wood appearing to hover on a few millimetres of metal. Against a dark floor the brass reads as a bright line; against a light floor it disappears and the nightstand simply floats.
The piece can be used freestanding beside any bed, or specified as an integrated element of the NOBU bed, where it tucks beneath the extended side panels and reads as part of the headboard wall.
Made to order in any wood veneer and finish, with the inset top in leather, fabric or stone, and the woven detail in your choice of material. Height and depth can be adjusted to align with your mattress height — worth specifying, since a nightstand that sits level with the mattress is the difference between a bedroom that looks designed and one that looks assembled.
